Our Horses

Our Breeding Program in centered around attributes and qualities that make a good horse great. We strive to breed only the finest horses for the arena and ranch. We all know that with horses, it starts in genetics. We trace all our pedigrees to influential horses that represent intelligence, workability, and attractiveness. Champions like King, Leo, Doc Bar, and other Legendary sires that help shape the Quarter Horse Community and our program.

These horses display the same qualities that we breed for time after time. To us, horses need strength and build to get a job done. For over forty years we have selected traits like speed, maneuverability, friendliness, intelligence, and appearance that help generate horses that compete on the ranch and in performance events. We believe that the best horses are ranch raised, by raising them this way they have the smarts and grit to thrive in tough environments; to think and work for themselves.

Our family has lived here for five generations. Arizona has a rich culture of hardworking individuals that value working through challenges. And we could not feel more at home here in the southwest.

We continue to live here for so many reasons. The landscape is beautiful and challenging. The rough terrain keeps us guessing and helps our horses learn to adapt in extremes. We’ve raised horses in 110° temperatures and in below freezing temperatures. The weather is unpredictable and we often face drought. Because of water scarcity our horses learn how to find water and use the land to their advantage. Our horses learn from birth how to navigate rocks, sand, heights, and more; conditions that are foreign to many corral raised horses.

Philosophy

Our breeding program has many top performing bloodlines. Our goal is to give you foundation pedigrees you can find in notable arenas and show pens across the U.S.A. without asking you to have King Midas' fortune; because everyone deserves a high quality horse. Our Quarter Horses and Paints are registered with the AQHA and APHA, our Part Drafts have an AQHA influence with the right type and amount of draft blood (no part draft registry). Additionally, their pedigrees are available to view both on our website and on the associations' websites.

A quick word on our paint horses; our program's paint horses are equal in quality and confirmation to all our quarter horses and those in top performance arenas. Some people feel some kind of way about paint horses, but we love them. We've mixed foundation paints with the best quarter horse lines so they'll have the brains and drive that a person needs.

Horses in our program will carry you through all disciplines; cutting, reining, heading and heeling, tiedown roping, barrel racing, and more.

Reeves DeWitt

Co-Founder, Trainer
Reeves has had a way with horses from the time he was young. Growing up on ranches, he always had a passion for the cowboy way of life. Reeves started training as a 12 year old boy, and would often break horses before going to school in the morning. He trains our remuda and has a firsthand account of just how beneficial training a horse with a solid pedigree can be.

Douglas' father, Merwin, showed his children and grandchildren how to work hard. He also taught his children about horses and the way that a man treats his animals. As a father and grandfather himself, Douglas is sharing these skills with his family on the ranch and constantly impresses with his memories of horses he raised over 40 years ago. Both he and Reeves can simply look at a photo of a horse we raised and the memories come flooding back.

Douglas and Reeves work tirelessly to produce the highest quality horses. They teach the next generations about our horses and the cowboy way. Douglas and Reeves spend every hour they can on making sure that the horses are cared for and that the future is planned for. We spend hours pouring over previous crosses, program pedigrees and their outcomes. Studying the success of current and legacy sires and earners as horses that work for the best outcomes in our program.
